Privacy Policy

Partably is a personal website operated by Aruna Gobalan. This policy explains what information I collect when you visit Partably, subscribe to the newsletter, or contact me—and what I do with it.

The short version: I collect only the information needed to run the site, send the newsletter, answer messages, and understand how the site is used. I do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Information you provide

You may choose to provide:

  • your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter;
  • your name, email address, and message when you use the contact form; and
  • any information you include when you email or otherwise contact me.

Please do not send sensitive personal information through the contact form.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, Partably and its hosting provider may collect basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages visited, and the date and time of a request. This information is used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the site.

Partably also uses Google Analytics 4 to understand general traffic and site usage. Google Analytics loads only after you give permission for analytics cookies through the cookie banner. If you reject analytics cookies, Google Analytics is not loaded.

Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, referral source, and interactions with the site. Partably does not use Google Analytics for advertising or personalized ads.

Cookies and consent choices

Partably uses:

  • Necessary cookies and similar technologies required for the site, security, forms, and consent controls to function; and
  • Analytics cookies, which are optional and are used only after you consent.

CookieYes provides the cookie banner and records your consent choice. You may accept or reject analytics cookies, and you may change your choice later by selecting Privacy choices on the site.

How I use information

I use personal information to:

  • send the newsletter you requested;
  • respond to questions and messages;
  • operate, protect, and improve Partably;
  • understand site usage when analytics consent has been given;
  • prevent spam, abuse, and security problems; and
  • comply with legal obligations or protect legal rights when necessary.

Legal bases for processing

If European Economic Area or United Kingdom data-protection law applies, I rely on:

  • Consent for optional analytics cookies and newsletter subscriptions. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, preventing abuse, understanding non-identifying site performance, and responding to ordinary correspondence.
  • Legal obligations when information must be retained or disclosed to comply with applicable law.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.

Services that help operate Partably

I use service providers to run the site. They may process information only as needed to provide their services or as described in their own privacy notices.

  • Hostinger hosts the website and may process server and security logs.
  • Mailchimp manages newsletter subscriptions and email delivery. If you subscribe, your email address is processed by Mailchimp. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. See Mailchimp’s legal and privacy information.
  • Google Analytics provides consent-based traffic analytics. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics privacy controls.
  • CookieYes manages cookie consent choices. See CookieYes’s Privacy Policy.
  • WPForms provides the website contact form. Form submissions may be stored in WordPress and sent to me by email.
  • Google/Gmail may process contact-form notifications and email correspondence.

Some of these providers operate in the United States or other countries. Information may therefore be processed outside your country. Where required, providers use contractual or other legal safeguards for international transfers.

How long information is kept

  • Newsletter information is retained while you remain subscribed. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter.
  • Contact-form submissions and correspondence are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
  • Analytics information is retained according to the settings and policies of Google Analytics.
  • Hosting and security logs are retained according to the operational and security practices of the hosting provider.

I may retain limited information when necessary to honor an unsubscribe request, prevent abuse, or meet a legal obligation.

When information may be disclosed

I may disclose information:

  • to the service providers listed above;
  • when required by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process;
  • when reasonably necessary to protect Partably, its readers, or another person from fraud, abuse, security threats, or harm; or
  • in connection with a transfer of the website or its assets, subject to appropriate privacy protections.

I do not sell or rent mailing lists or personal information.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • request access to personal information held about you;
  • ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
  • request deletion of information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • request a portable copy of information you provided;
  • withdraw consent; and
  • complain to your local data-protection authority.

You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. You may also change your analytics-cookie choice using Privacy choices on the site.

To make another privacy request, use the Partably contact page. I may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children’s privacy

Partably is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me so I can review and delete it where appropriate.

Security

I use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. No website or method of electronic transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Links to other websites

Partably contains links to websites I do not operate. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the site, its services, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top of the page will show when it was last revised. Material changes may also be announced on the site when appropriate.
